So it is our pleasure to finally welcome to our online store the wonderful, weird wallflower that is - Bumblebee Jasper. This crystal is still unknown to many collectors we meet, who are drawn to the unique opaque yellows and it’s unfamiliar energy, so let us help you all become better acquainted.
Bumblebee Jasper is firstly unique in that it is only found in one region - Mount Papandayan, in West Java, Indonesia. There, it is mined at the base of an active volcano, where sulphur mining is the main stock and trade in the Garut Regency of West Java. Typically sulphur is gained as a by-product from petroleum processing, but Mount Papandayan remains one of the last and only places that sulphur is mined the old way. Needless to say it is extremely dangerous work, and that each piece of Bumblebee Jasper has gone through quite the journey to reach us.
The name itself is also secondly unique, as Bumblebee Jasper isn’t really a jasper, nor an agate variety, as it contains absolutely no quartz at all. It is somewhat of a fusion, or ‘mutant’ gemstone - a kind of ‘super-crystal’, very unusual but also very singular. It is really a calcite at it’s core, grown in an unorthodox way due to the volatile infusion of arsenic/sulfuric elements, namely Pyrite and Realgar. There are also elements of Hematite, Aragonite, calcium and other iron-based formations in there too. Like we said - a fusion super crystal.
Energetically, Bumblebee Jasper belongs to a family of particular gemstones we at The Ornate Oracle like to call: Ignition Crystals.
These are crystals that are typically connected to your power centres, and affect the nervous system, shocking it into action when energies have been sitting too low for too long.
