Here at The Ornate Oracle we have a knack for collecting crystals that are connected to the heart and the heart chakra. We love them, ironically. Can’t get enough of them. Rose Quartz, Rhodonite, Aventurine, Green Onyx… give us more. You might say we’re all heart baby. After all, the heart is the epicentre of our energy fields - without it working strong, we falter, and the rest of our field has a hard time from collapsing. Which is why we think it’s important we introduce you to Pink Opal, potentially your new best friend when your heart is heavy, out of steam and having a hard time getting back to being gym-fit.

Firstly, a quick reminder to those who don’t realise - or have just plain forgotten - that there are indeed Opals in countries other than Australia. Yes, we house and supply almost 80% of the world’s Opals, and we have one of the most sought-after gemstones in the world, that being Black Opal… but that is not to say that there are Opals in other far off places that deserve their time in the spotlight too.
Pink Opal is one of these such crystals. A softer, smoother, lesser known Common Opal mined mostly in the higher regions in Peru, but can also be found in the mid-west of Mexico and parts of Oregon in the USA. It is comprised primarily of chalcedony but also palygorskite, a formation of silicate sheets that are sometimes mistaken for Precious Opal.

The first thing to notice about Pink Opal is its immediate feel. In the hand it is akin to soap, or a musk stick. In the room, there is an even softer, more dependable feel. Like you’re in the company of someone who’s genuinely here to help you. Nothing being asked of you, no requirements or deceits. Pink Opal meets you with a very calm, lightening feeling, like it wants you to be free of your burdens.
And that sense that all heaviness is gone, that is the essence of what makes Pink Opal so alluring. It was the first thing we noticed when we began using it. This feeling that we were gradually free of any emotional weights we were carrying, for others or ourselves. We began to feel more and more unburdened, more calm.
With more use we were more in control of our emotions, and this is something particular we have noticed with chalcedony heavy crystals. They re-angle emotions, turn them in another direction, another light, so that you start to see things more objectively, seeing them as they simply are without any attachment or over-thinking. Crystals like this - like Pink Opal, or Carnelian and Cats Eye - may all affect different energy points, but we have found that they allow the mind to have just enough of a say in your emotional state that you are no longer consumed by it. You are able to regain emotional strength so to speak, to become less dependent on others, more emotionally disciplined, and to be reminded of just how sturdy you really are.
Pink Opal is a very handy crystal for anyone who is grieving or going through loss, helping to see beyond just the pain. If you’re particularly affected by the sadness, by the sense of something being cut away from your life, or if you’re struggling with the distance of a particular connection with someone, if that bond has been stretched, Pink Opal is very effective at replacing that hurt with vigour. With continued use any overwhelming feelings of loss will become lessened, healed, and will eventually reset the heart back to a neutral loving and accepting state.

Pink Opal is a crystal that we have gifted on quite a few occasions to friends who have been suffering through loss or have had difficulties healing their heart and getting back to normal. Through them, and our own continued use we have seen this crystal open people back up again, almost more renewed than they were before tragedies struck. Users of Pink Opal will over time become much more honest with their own feelings, more open, and less inclined to hold onto burdens or keep things in. It is a crystal that has re-invigorated the aura for so many, helping to lead them back onto a path of spiritual growth, and to remember that while it’s okay to hurt, to grieve, it’s also okay to heal and be your wonderful whole self again.
